REAL WEDDING: JENNA + MATT

SCHOOL YARD LOVE

Jenna and Matt met in elementary school, and while their love story did not start there, it inspired their adorable wedding! Jenna and Matt’s wedding ceremony was held at the Wayfarers Chapel; the almost entirely glass structure is stunning and overlooks the ocean cliffs of Palos Verdes! Instead of opting for the traditional, the theme was incorporated in their unique cootie-catcher ceremony programs – so adorable!

The reception was then moved to The Reef Restaurant in beautiful Long Beach. During the cocktail hour, guests were able to sign the ‘guest book’ a large canvas where guest could place their fingerprint to create leaves on a tree, find their grade (AKA tables) on pencils, enjoy the courtyard with adorable school bus florals from Tustin Florist Floral Designs, and visit the silhouette artist!

At the dinner reception, the sweetheart table was a vintage school desk from Archive Vintage Rentals with its drawers filled with flowers and top covered in school accessories – globe, clock, etc.! Guest tables were coved in mason jars filled with flowers and a chalk-board with their grade on it! The corner tables had large tree-like centerpieces that had a swing hanging down – a favorite of the playground structures!

Rossmoor Bakery provided the cake, which was subtly covered in words that Matt picked to describe Jenna and their relationship. In addition to a cake, there was a traditional bake-sale (what lunch hour was complete without it?!) that had all of your childhood favorites – funfetti cupcakes, ding-dongs, circus animal cookies, twinkies, and anything else that your childhood self could have desired!

The guests had a blast dancing to DJ Andy Nation and sharing in the love of Matt and Jenna! The beauty of this wedding was captured by Candice Benjamin Photography and videographer Click 54.

GETTING FIT SERIES: EATING RIGHT

Intertwined Events is partnering with Cal Coast Fitness to bring to you the ways in which to get fit and lead a healthy life – doesn’t hurt since beach season (and wedding season!!) is quickly approaching! Below we debunk the dieting myths that are keeping you from losing weight:

1. Eating Low-Fat: Stop buying foods that are marked as low-fat or fat-free. They only save you a few calories, but replace harmless carbohydrates with low performing ones that cause a sugar rush then a rebound hunger.

2. Eating Free Restaurant Food: It isn’t free, you will pay for these breadsticks, chips, and biscuits in excessive calories and fats!

3. Skipping Meals: Skipping meals has the reverse effect of what people think it does; it actually increases your odds of obesity – especially skipping breakfast. Skipping meals slows your metabolism and boost hunger that puts your body into prime fat-storage mode.

4. Eat Off Small Plates: When you opt for a large plate while eating it translates to more food, more calories, and more body fat. Keep servings in check by choosing smaller serving dishes.

5. Eating Too Late: Eating after 8PM does not provide your body with enough time to digest food properly; therefore it is too busy burning off a big meal while you sleep than flab!

THEMED THURSDAY: WILL YOU BE MY VINTAGE VALENTINE

Valentine’s Day is next week and we know there are quite a few Valentine’s brides out there, so we dedicate this Themed Thursday to you! We love the idea of a red and white wedding for this special day; however, red can be so overpowering and intense when paired with white and that is why we opted for a vintage twist. A faded, more subdued red allows for the same warmth without the extreme color. We love the little love-ly detailing of heart suckers, red and white paper straws, and Coca Cola for that extra vintage pop!
