As I look out on my balcony, I see remnants of Los Angeles but my mind wanders to a place I can only continue to dream about…Punta Cana. It has already been two months since I returned from my five-day stay at the Ocean Blue Resort in Punta Cana . I continue to think about it every day because in reality, it truly was paradise.
Imagine the chance to getaway, as soon as you step off of the plane. The humidity instantly hits you but acclimating to the climate is only one of the many perks. I remember getting way too excited as I checked in for my hotel room as the cool, central air conditioning removed any traces of hot and humid tropical weather in the lobby. I received my “all-inclusive” bracelet signifying my over 21 status and that I was a paid customer for the all-inclusive resort amenities. The lobby bar called to me as my senses picked up the sounds of Mojito shakers.
I would like to tell you about every moment of my experience at Ocean Blue, but that would require a very long blog and I’m sure Intertwined wouldn’t appreciate that too much. So check out the Ocean Blue Resort in Punta Cana, stay for two nights or for seven. You will always find an activity whether you like to indulge in extreme water sports or simply lounge around the pool and sip on cocktails.
I had the pleasure of going off on a glass bottom boat excursion. While I need to practice my swimming skills, I still had a great time snorkeling in the Atlantic with colorful blue fish swimming beneath me as they ate oatmeal from my hands. Oh, and the water was ALWAYS a warm 80 degrees whether it was day or night.
Be sure to drink some Mamajuana while you’re in the Dominican Republic. It’s the drink of the country. Hint: It’s best when on the rocks and mixed with sprite. Food choices are endless and remember that it’s all-inclusive. The main restaurants don’t open until dinner but when they are, you can dine at Italian, American, Dominican, or even Mexican. The café by the pool and beach is open during the day for constant snackers like me. While I spent my entire trip in my bikini, I continued to gorge on French fries. Oh, I miss those fries!
In conclusion…great hotel rooms, great resort, AMAZING staff (FYI: the Dominican is a Spanish speaking country but staff do speak English), fun activities, wonderful weather and beautiful, pristine beaches. Why shouldn’t you go? And why aren’t you online now, booking your flight to Punta Cana now?
