At Intertwined Weddings,we are seeing more DIY Brides, and we are often asked what’s necessary for engagement parties and showers hosted at home. We have put together some tips for you:
Make the event all about you – the new couple. It is your time to shine! It need not be extravagant to be special so you can keep it low budget and simply use it as an opportunity for your guests to find out more about the engagement, information about the upcoming wedding and allow them to celebrate with you in your exciting news!
-Food and drinks should be served but keep it simple – appetizers, beer and wine are perfect for this type of occasion. Use champagne for a toast if desired.
-Engagement photos, if already taken, are great to display – if you have a video or pictures of the engagement itself, even better.
-Favors are definitely not necessary. However, details about the wedding are always appreciated. You can you put together a little card with your wedding info or wedding website and send guests home with a little “FYI Document”
-Etiquette Reminder: Don’t invite anyone to the engagement party you aren’t planning on inviting to the wedding – if you invite them to this event, they are expecting an invite to the wedding as well
What are some of your thoughts forkeeping an engagement party simple but elegant?
