Where do you sit your boss? Or what about your second cousin who your mom insisted was invited? We know it’s a difficult decision to determine where each guest will sit during your reception, which is why we’ve come up with a few of our best tips of how to create your wedding seating chart.
Decisions, Decisions
Are you having a sweetheart, king or family table? Once you determine where you are sitting, you know how many guests you have to seat. Are you having rounds or family style tables? Are you assigning seats or tables only? Once you make your initial decisions, you can move forward and organize your guest list to determine who will sit with whom.
Divide and Conquer
Divide your guests into categories: bridal party, immediate family, other family members, mutual friends, your friends, groom’s friends, and coworkers. Finding the perfect balance between all attendants can be difficult, so remember to place common minded people together.
Figure Out Who’s a Chatty Cathy
If there’s a friend or family member who tends to speak their mind, even at inappropriate times, be sure to keep them at a separate table than those who may be easily offended. It’s your special day and no one wants an argument, so remember that it’s okay to keep feuding foes on opposite sides of the room.
Don’t Single Them Out
Many think they need to sit all their single friends at one table, but this outdated trend may embarrass your single friends. Be sure to seat them with others they may know, but don’t be afraid to put two available friends at the same table. You may just be creating a love connection!
Kiddie Table
If you have children in attendance, consider a kids’ table if they’re old enough. Have activity books to keep them occupied. This is a perfect way to insure no one is grabbing an adults’ champagne.
No Stress
At the end of the day, everyone will remember how much they enjoyed your wedding, not where they sat. Enjoy the details of your big day and relish in the moments of planning!
