January 11, 2009
For the past year and a half I have been a dedicated gym attendee…I make it there at least 4 times a week (well, most of the time), I attend spin class, I lift weights (5 to 10 pounds – lets get serious), and I LOVE the stairclimber. I look around and I recognize a lot of the people – we all go around the same time. I have two time slots where you can usually find me – around 8:00 AM or around 5:00 PM…seriously, those are the only times I go. On that note, New Years comes around and everyone has to have their resolution to get fit and get healthy. GREAT, AWESOME – I really love that idea…but do you have to do it atff the hours of 8:00 AM and/or 5:00 PM?? I swear the attendance at my gym has multiplied by 20 during my time slots since the ball dropped a little over a week ago. I bet some of you can relate….
So that got me thinking about New Years Resolutions. I really do love the idea – it allows people to set goals, it gets them moving in the direction they have wanted to move all year, but haven’t yet, and it gets people motivated. But my thought is, why does it have to take a lot of champagne, a large ball and a hangover to decide now is the time? I am being the anti-new years celebrator this year as I am not making a new years resolution – instead I am pushing even harder towards goals I set in OCTOBER – yes, I set them at the 4th quarter of the year, so what. Push towards those goals, whenever they may start, and do it…you don’t need it to be January 1st to get a move on with your dreams…
It’s a little food for thought for the day…oh and of course, to finish, my new gym time is 12:00 PM! 🙂
Continue to Elevate.
