Oh boy! You are in for a sweet treat! We were so lucky to have Melody, co-owner and head pastry chef of Sweet and Saucy Shop, takeover our Instagram for a day and share all the sweetest trends for 2016!
Her cakes and desserts are to die for, ridiculously delicious and literally a piece of art! Here are a few of Melody’s favorites of this year…
“One of life’s most important rules: gold is ALWAYS a good idea! Gold leaf is one of our most popular additions to cakes because of it’s gorgeous simplicity. While a 5 tier smooth buttercream wedding cake can be pretty on its own, even a little bit of gold leaf can take it to a whole other level….plus who doesn’t love airplants!”
“Macarons + palm leaves + calligraphy are like the ultimate trifecta of popularity. No event nowadays is really complete without a set of personalized, and not to mention delicious, macarons! Our customer’s favorites are our Salted Caramel flavor.”
“What more can you ask for than all of our most popular desserts on one beautiful table?! S’mores cupcakes, key lime pies, chocolate salted caramel tarts, and red velvet cake pops… To Die For. Love is even sweeter when you get to indulge in a fully stocked dessert bar like this one at a wedding. We typically recommend 2-4 mini desserts per person if you are doing a dessert bar, and normally 3 per person is the most popular choice!”
“I think everyone has a soft spot in their hearts for naked cakes. Somehow in all of their bare glory, they manage to be just as stunning as a fully decked out cake. Add some fresh florals and you’ve got yourself a winning combo!”
“This cake and setup we did for a baby shower with @mismultee is still one of my all time favorites. Merging Rifle Paper Company inspired elements with Moroccan wedding blanket vibes turned out to be a genius and beyond stunning idea.”
“Marbled fondant and geodes are such fun trends in the cake world right now; this cake we made for a recent shoot is definitely a stunner and combines some of the best trends all in one cake. The talent of our staff never ceases to amaze me and collaborating with other talented vendors is one of my favorite aspects of being in the wedding industry!”
