It’s your wedding day…do you have yourSomething old, something new, something borrowed and something blue?! It’s a tradition that has been going on for centuries and while most people just do it for fun, there are valid reasons for its origins. “Something old” is meant to symbolize the bride’s relationship with her family‚Äîit’s a symbol of continuity. When she wears something new it is to represent the new life with her husband and be a sign of good luck. Borrowing something is important because it shows that loved ones are there to support you both on your wedding day and in the future. As for blue, the color has long been associated with the virtues of purity, love, fidelity, an modesty.
One of our favorite parts of wedding planning at Intertwined, is helping brides to put their own touch on age-old, and beautiful traditions! Now that youknow its origins, wehope you will be just as excited to incorporate these tokens of good fortune and happinessit into yourwedding day!
