The exchanging andwearing of wedding rings is a mark of a married man or woman, but why? It all started in Roman times, where the ring was worn on the third finger of the left hand because they believed that an artery extended directly from the heart to this finger – vena amoris or love vein. The wearing of a ring on this finger signified the capture of someone’s heart.
Wedding bands are circular, not only for the sake of fitting them on fingers, but because the circle signifies eternity and never-ending immortal love. The space in the center acts as a gateway to the future leading to things unknown within the relationship.
Will you and your future spouse be wearing rings?
